Over 5,000 Flights Cancelled Amid West Asia Airspace Crisis, Says Ministry of Civil Aviation
Massive Disruptions in Air Travel
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has confirmed that more than 1,200 flights operated by Indian carriers and nearly 3,880 flights run by foreign airlines have been cancelled so far due to the evolving airspace tensions in parts of West Asia.

In an official statement, the Ministry said it is closely monitoring the rapidly changing situation and coordinating with airlines to minimise passenger inconvenience. Special arrangements are being made to assist stranded travellers, and additional flight capacity is being deployed wherever necessary.
Indian Carriers Adjust Schedules
Despite disruptions,Indian airlines are gradually restoring services through alternative routes that bypass restricted airspace.
According to the Ministry:
A total of 58 flights are planned to operate today.
IndiGo will operate 30 flights.
Air India and Air India Express will operate 23 flights combined.
Long-haul and ultra-long-haul services are being progressively resumed using carefully planned alternative routings to ensure passenger safety.
Monitoring Airfares & Passenger Support
The Ministry has also stated that it is in constant communication with airlines and is actively monitoring airfares to prevent any unjustified surge in ticket prices during this sensitive period.
Airlines have been instructed to:
Maintain transparent communication with passengers
Follow regulatory norms for refunds and rescheduling
Provide proper assistance to affected travellers
Passengers are strongly advised to check the latest flight status directly with their respective airlines before heading to the airport and to rely only on official sources for accurate updates.
